Marrying house and garden with Pieter Peulen
When interior designer and content creator, Pieter Peulen, began building his own house in his native Belgium, he was looking to add a touch of warmth to a modern space.
Through judicious use of wood, carefully selected furnishings and our architectural details he achieved his dream.

‘The vision for this home was definitely to use a lot of concrete,’ explains Pieter, ‘but we also wanted it to feel warm. So, we added a lot of wooden details, for example the windows, inspired by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando.’
That vision of adding a sense of warmth extended to the house’s beautifully designed garden, and our polished nickel Ealing garden lighting provided an ideal solution when matched with our coordinating interior details.

While polished nickel is the coolest of our three finishes, its yellow undertones lend it a warmth that chrome just doesn’t have – something Pieter appreciated alongside the sense of harmony it created.
‘Throughout the house and garden, we have the polished nickel finish from Corston,’ says Pieter. ‘We really love it because it captures the light but also reflects it.’

The designer was in no doubt when it came to using our details for his own home.
‘Corston products are timeless, and I love the materials you use. The pieces are subtle, and they blend in with the rest of the house.
‘Architectural details are very important because you interact with them every day. The functionality is crucial, and I really like it when materials flow seamlessly.’
