When project manager Ammar Bass first saw this Russell Gardens mews house in London, it was its potential as an ‘underutilised property’ that caught his eye.
‘I guess once upon a time horses would have been kept here,’ he says, ‘and more recently there had been a garage underneath and a flat upstairs. Both had been uninhabited for a long time, and the property had fallen into a state of disrepair.’
Designer Olivia Lich was part of a team of professionals that worked to reimagine the property and bring it back to life.
‘We wanted to have a contemporary feel with a raw architectural edge,’ she explains. ‘We wanted to use organic materials such as timber, stone and plaster to celebrate the original build and its features.’
For Ammar, our products were a natural fit. ‘We particularly like the timeless designs,’ he explains, ‘and we wanted a company that could supply sockets, switches and lighting that work together.’
The last word goes to electrician Gerti Bicaku, who worked hands-on with our collections.
‘We’ve used Corston before,’ he says. ‘In fact, most of our projects use Corston products because they’re so easy to fit and work with.’
